Come in for the best Peruvian lomo saltado, Mediterranean mezze, British fish & chips, Argentine empanadas, Indian pakoras, butter chicken, American mac and cheese, Southern corn ribs, Mexican aguachile, Korean chicken wings, Chinese chow mein, French charcuterie and more. Or for wines and pisco, tequila, vodka artisan craft cocktails by Chicago's women makers. Our sanctuary covenant is flavor foremost, zero pretentiousness & principles. In this era of divisiveness and rolling back of the dignity of many, Sanctuary celebrates differences (minorities, immigrants, all religions, orientations, identities) and welcomes all allies. It especially champions women with design features of the wall of Women Changemakers, neon power sayings, and the women's manifesto. Sanctuary is founded by Rohini Dey, PhD, founder Vermilion & Let’s Talk Womxn, former McKinsey & Co. and The World Bank. The menu is based on Rohini's travels, vision, and culinary direction. Vermilion's former lead chef and 2015 JBF women's leadership mentee Chef Suprapti leads the culinary execution. Over its 21-year run in Chicago and 10 years in NYC, Vermilion earned widespread acclaim including Best Restaurants from Travel & Leisure, Town & Country, Esquire, USA Today, Bon Appétit, Chicago and 3 Stars Chicago Tribune. As a decade long James Beard Foundation trustee, Rohini helped bring the JBF Awards to Chicago. She founded and chaired the JBF Women's Leadership Program in 2011 for a decade before founding Let's Talk Womxn in 2020.
Let's Talk Womxn is 130 Chicago restaurateurs and entrepreneurs and 900+ across 15 cities boosting their businesses collaboratively. Sanctuary Let's Talk Womxn strategic partners are Dori Isufi (owner Molly's Cupcakes Chicago) and Korina Sanchez (owner Moe's Cantina, Tree House, La Luna, Tunnel, Old Crow Smokehouse). Apart from its own extensive range of comfort fare, Sanctuary actively showcases and supports Chicago's Let’s Talk Womxn restaurateurs & entrepreneurs including La Luna, Molly's Cupcakes, Mmmm Enjoy Wines, Inspiro Tequila, Catan Pisco, Savory Crust, Bistronomic, Brown Sugar Bakery, Tacotlan, Pretty Cool Ice Cream. Sanctuary is also the hub for Let's Talk Womxn programs.
